Cool Slideshows!

One of my sweet friends went to the beach recently and it made me wish I was there again. I went through my pictures (that I still haven't printed) and thought I'd share them too. We had perfect weather and wonderful friends to share the trip with. We spent a lot of time on the beach this year since all of the kids loved it. The kids drove their first go-karts and played hard every day. I really want to go back there again soon! I love the beach!!!! Oh - and you'll notice that my husband is not taking a turn flying the Rainbow Pony Kite. He continues to call it the girliest kite in the history of kites..

Still Learning

OK - so is there a way to change the date on when a post is posted if you start typing a post but don't want to post it until later? Did I add the word "post" enough in that sentence? My goal was to post Jere's Bday message on his bday but it didn't happen and now it is way back on the 21st, when I first started typing it... Oh well, just rambling here. If any has advice, please let me know...

Great is Thy Faithfulness

My heart is so heavy today yet I have hope in Jesus. I went to the Women of Faith Conference in Atlanta a few weeks ago. It was called Amazing Freedom. I realized that there were things that I thought I was free from, but I'm not. I laughed so much that weekend and I cried a lot too. Mostly my heart was breaking for the women sharing their stories. They were difficult ones to share but all of them had the comfort of Jesus to get them through the tough times. Forgiveness. Pain. Death. Healing. Joy. Freedom. Our God is so faithful even through to most difficult times. One of the speakers shared about the loss of her baby daughter. That was one of the most difficult stories for me to hear after losing my own. I didn't truly get to hold mine as she did but I did get to see her. I was able to bury her and have memories of her. That was almost five years ago now. I can't believe it has been that long.

I love to read books by Karen Kingsbury. She is one of my all-time favorite authors. She has a series about the Baxter family that I have been reading for several years and her latest book came out this week. I feel like I personally know this family. Like I could just call them up and talk to them. I even find myself praying for them. This last book was hard for me to read. I'm not giving away details and I cry through every book so this isn't unusual for me. It deals with life and death and choosing life (in more than one way). It deals with struggling to understand why God allows things to happen. It also deals with having people who love you surrounding you even in the worst of circumstances. It once again made me think of my baby girl, Zacie. I started the book yesterday morning and finished it after midnight last night. My eyes are still swollen from crying. I got up this morning and pulled out my memory bag from when Zacie was born. I probably shouldn't have done it but part of me needed to. I found the memory book that the hospital gave me. I had forgotten that they made me prints of her tiny little footprints. I have her little tiny hat that she wore. I have the little bracelet that she never got to wear. The picture of her that I have in my head is so different from what the pictures actually look like. It was a reminder of why I don't look at them often. Too heartbreaking. Too sad. Yet amazing to know the God created her and had a plan for her short life.

I don't mean to be so heavy hearted today and it is fine if no one even reads this. It is amazing how good it feels just to write this down and get it out of my system. I have heard that journaling is good for the soul. Throughout the series of books, the mother constantly seeks strength from the hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness. I have been singing it all morning. I just had to write down the words as well...

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter and spring time and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars In their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness;
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that enduresth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand bedside!

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

What is this world coming to?

Today A came home so excited about a new cheer she learned at school. It goes something like this:

Totally for sure, I just got a manicure.
The sun..up there.. is bleaching out my hair.
26.. 24.. I don't even know the score.
Win.. win.. fight...fight
Gee I hope I look alright.

Is this why cheerleaders get the reputation they have? Is this why I am sending my daughter to school? WOW!

Happy Birthday Jere!

Today I want to celebrate my sweet husband. This week he is "2 years" younger than me and on Sunday, it will be "only one". I say, "I robbed the cradle". He says, "You're my old lady". I don't take that the wrong way at all. At least I'm his and he is mine!

The first birthday that I shared with him was before we ever started dating. He had recently moved to town and his mom called to ask me to help put together a surprise party for him. I had been at his house the night before and told him that I lost my watch at his house and asked if we could stop by to get it before we went where we were going. He fell for it and we were able to really surprise him. It was great until he paid me back on my next birthday and scared me out of my wits. The only photo I remember is one where you could see all the way down my throat to my lungs from the scream that I let out. Anyway, it is 13 years later....

To honor him today I want to celebrate him and what I love about him:
I love the way he finds a song to go with everything.
I love that every conversation ends up being about sports or music. It is just him!
I love the way he prays with the kids every night.
I love that he just holds up one finger and the kids run away screaming for protection from the tickle monster.
I love that he works his tail off for us but expects very little in return.
I love the way he serves others.
I love watching him sit and read his Bible at night.
I love his grilled cheese sandwiches.
I love that he knows when I have reached my limit and just takes over.
I love it when he holds my hand.
I love it when he shares his mom's homemade Chex mix with me (which is rare).
I love that he worries about me when I take on too much.
I love the way he and A have a special bond that only a father-daughter could have.
I love the way he picks out a Build-A-Bear for A to sleep with every night.
I love that he and D have "guy nights" and watch Star Wars while acting it out with the characters.
I love that he has us all watching Nascar on Sunday afternoons - at least until football starts.
I love him for who God has molded him to be!

Of course, these are just a few of the reasons I love him! I think of more all the time. I hope you had a great one! Happy Birthday Jere!!

Why Holy Clover?

So I finally decided to join my fellow blogging friends with very little idea of what I'm doing. I am not a journaler as a norm and although I do talk a lot, I don't normally record what I am thinking or saying. Please forgive any rambling that is going to inevitably come with this project...

As for how I got this name.. it makes me happy because it reminds me of my sweet daughter and how her heart works. I have been trying to come up with an appropriate name for this blog for weeks. Nothing was jumping out at me that made any sense. One day I asked A what I should call it and she very quickly said "Holy Clover". I asked her why and she said "The clover is like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with its 3 leaves and they are all Holy.". At first, I thought, that is pretty neat to think of it that way but not for a blog name. Then the more I considered it, I thought, it is true and it makes me happy to think that A came up with it so I'm going with it. So "Holy Clover" it is! Just saying it makes me smile!
